As a follow-up the the succesful meetings in the Disaster-Resilient Societies (DRS) Thematic Area earlier this year, the “Community of European Research and Innovation for Security” (CERIS) of DG HOME has once again encouraged H2020 and Horizon Europe projects to join forces co-organising a DRS event under the CERIS umbrella for 2 days staring on 17th of may.
Recent crises have highlighted the need to strengthen interactions among the scientific community, practitioners, city’s risk managers of major crises and citizens or local communities in the event of (natural or man-made) disasters. A range of projects funded by the Horizon Europe Civil Security for Society programme are developing tools and solutions in support to enhanced societal resilience, in particular for increasing risk awareness and preparedness of citizens to any kind of disasters and improving risk management and governance. In this respect, a cluster of Disaster-Resilient Societies (DRS) projects will disseminate new findings and practical information of direct relevance to municipal authorities and first responders in the framework of the European Forum on Governance of Major Risk & Societal Resilience organised in the framework of CERIS to facilitate this dissemination and interactions among the scientific community and city’s representatives.
